Woe is Me
July 27, 2007 Boo Hoo Hoo. Yes, it is all about me.
I've been sidelined lately. Pretty much the whole month has been a write off. First there was cellulitis that appeared on my lower leg. Red, inflamed, hot, painful, fever of 102, overnight stay in the hospital. Two weeks off work getting antibiotics by IV - a two hour long dose every four hours, 24 hours a day. Went back to work too soon and spent a week not functioning simply because I was exhausted - by 3 in the afternoon I was crashed on the couch at home. Came back to work the following week and continued to struggle - by mid afternoon each day my ankles were impersonating water balloons. I then came down with a bladder infection, which I'm suffering through now. One question: have you ever noticed how mere Tylenol is always suggested by people who aren't actually in pain? Just a thought.
One does need to remain positive. It's all about the attitude. After all, if life hands you crap... make crapenade.

Praying for your health. And for patience...
I am sorry you've had a rough month. Health issues can sometimes reduce life to mere survival. I hope and pray that you are feeling strong and healthy again soon.
Dude, you have been sick!
Oh ouch. Apart from the fact your infection was treated with a heavy duty dose of meds, you've managed to minimize your statement of pain.
Oh ouch.Anyone who has not had or seen a bacterial infection isn't going to get this. You didn't mention the antibiotic.
Cephalexin?
Oh ouch.
You didn't say you were out of the woods yet, what are the blood tests showing?
Thinking of you.
that stuff you were going through is serious business! but, i have to like your humor...crapenade...sorry,but, that cracked me up! glad you posted...and hope..well, you know.
Life is hard, but thankfully there's crapenade.
i do recall, dear brother, that you were down with this last year, if i am not mistaken -- you are prone to these types of God-Getting-RWK's-Attention-Illnesses...
rest. rest and don't be weary, stay still and medicated and listen for that small voice. He's right alongside with you on that couch. but i ain't thinking He's drinking crapenade. i think He is more of a Water into Wine God.
peace.
BeneDiction - All the tests confirm what the doctor has said. This appears to be winding down quite nicely - I'm back to work on Monday.
grace - It will - I'm sure - be over soon.
Paul - You know, for a minute there you really sounded like Homer. No really.
NaNcY - Glad you like the little play on words!
joanee - You were in much worse shape after the surgery than I am now. You bounced back rather well too, I might add.
~m2~ I've never seen Him turn water into wine, but I have seen him turn heroin into methadone.
aren't you glad i wasn't around to offer my advice. you'd a kicked me, and made matters worse.
hope you feel better really soon.
hugs
beth - Yours was the first laugh of the day! Thanks!
Julie - Yup, that's me - I take drugs so I can hang out with normal people!
thinking of you to God
you are a light on a hill
I heard you were not well! You are needed! Stay well! Listen to your sister and drink lots of water with all those heavy duty meds that you should be taking! AND NO SHARING!
Psalm 46 - Thanks for that! I'm back to work this week. What can I say? - the beat goes on!

I'd rather eat ground glass than have an IV in - even one like the medline port I had. It was even worse then because I was going to AA meetings in an un-air-conditioned hall, and the sweat would make the bandages on the IV port loosen up, and life would really get sucky. Turned out that a couple of nurses were in the fellowship, and they'd follow me home and change my dressings and flush the line. Fun stuff...redefined the term "sweet fellowship" for me.
I'm glad you're back to work; I'm glad you've been through the crucible. It will be interesting to see what dross has burned away, and what remains...
