Next Door
May 16, 2008 There's a big old house right next door to the Mission. All week I've been watching the inhabitants of one apartment in particular. They spend all day sitting on their back porch, playing cards, talking, just sitting. Every afternoon someone goes to Tim Horton's for coffee. It's been an interesting exercise for me, watching them sit there all day, from the kitchen window, as I prepare their supper. Today one of them asked me for a box of groceries, reminding me that she had two young children. This was accomplished by yelling at me across the parking lot.
Yes, I know it's all about grace for me. I just wonder what it's about for them, that's all.

I guess its like when we gave our very hard earned 20.00 to a hitchhiker who asked. We found out later that this individual would panhandle/hitchhike back and forth over that particular hwy as a way of life.I struggled with that for a while but realized we had given as we felt Jesus would have and it was the recipient's responsibility to use it the way they should.
That experience has left an impression that I still work with today, mostly.:-/
Isnt there a food bank around somewhere?:-)
Yours is the hardest task. Loving the unlovely.
It is I believe, God's will and the very manifestation of the Lord.
Love, Luck and God's Blessings to one and all!
maybe they are actully writers trying to come up with a screenplay about life in a homeless shelter.
maybe they aspire to be united nations peacekeepers.
i wonder what they could possibly be talking about all day?
Ps. 46 - You're right - we do what we feel called to do with what we have - the rest is really out of our hands, isn't it?
prayers and blessings - Thanks!
nancy - I think they might be international jewel thieves, hiding out after their last caper in Belgium.
Wait a minute... Last Caper in Belgium. Isn't that a Marlon Brando movie?
