86108-584373-thumbnail.jpgThe book presents the best of the first year of Today at the Mission. It is very much like the blog - a record of an emotional and spiritual journey undertaken in the kitchen of an anonymous homeless shelter that could be anywhere, or everywhere. It's not always 'light' reading but it's every bit as real as it is honest. This book captures a few miles of the journey I've been on, and I hope you'll join me along the way.

And it may be the your pre-arrest breakfast care and conversation might be the only thing that keeps him going in the next few days. Who knows?

ditto brian's comment. A divine appointment. Or you were conned. But you and he had to eat anyway, so the rest is in God's hands.

One thing is for sure ... he wont forget yesterday. He will always remember getting arrested, and he will always remember you taking time to have breakfast with him before he was arrested. He may or may not remember what was said, but he will remember someone cared about him.

It occured to me after I hit the post button that I read that wrong - that the arrest and the breakfast were on differnet days. I should not try to respond when I've not slept all night. Still, the same principal applies. He will remember what you did for him. OK, I'm off to rest now.

oh, no.......

who is to say that your meeting with him yesterday didn't prevent an even larger thing happening with him?

thing is, it is one of those things we won't ever know this side of heaven.

dang.

I sure hope you don't feel like your time with him has any less value because he screwed up afterwards. I am glad he got to meet with you BEFORE he got arrested because your words are with him.

I don't know the details here....

....but sometimes a person can be arrested for all the right reasons.

Moreover, I've seen many instances where an arrest will serve to jumpstart a cascade of positive changes in a young person's life.

Regardless, I understand your frustration; but be encouraged RWK.

Who's to say that these events (breakfast and arrest) are not two important and necessary steps this young man must make in order that he might experience a new, and changed life?

You would not believe the crap I had to go through to reach this side of my life.

Thank goodness there were those rare, and priceless individuals who never gave up on me.

Thank goodness, God himself pursued me with His relentless love.

Be encouraged, RWK. I'm living proof that one person can make a life and death difference!
