Gender Divide
December 12, 2006 One of the residents at the Mission has taken to doing push-ups. He does a set of five, several times a day. The problem is that he does them in the middle of the street in front of the building. He's almost been run over at least twice, and, as you might imagine, we're doing our best to dissuade him of this practice. What's interesting, however, is the way this has divided the staff, for the split is entirely along the gender line.
The women uniformly express concern - and even alarm - over how dangerous it is to do push-ups in the middle of a busy street.
The guys say he does push-ups like a girl.

In other news, your book is just in time to be a Christmas gift to my colleague who teaches and leads in our college students' outreach to the marginalized in society. He's going to love it! Thanks.
Ginger - Thanks - I appreciate it.
Psalm 46 - Yeah, I did a push-up once. I didn't like it.
Brian - Thanks for ordering the book! I'm not sure what happened with the link - unless it's the link in your blog reader. I've tried all the others with both Firefox and Internet Exploder and they seem to be working. Oy Vey!
My Sister - Okay, everyone - sure, I told her to go play on the highway. (she didn't) I also told her to not hang out at the pool hall and smoke cigarettes until she was at least 15 but she didn't listen to me then, either. What's a big brother to do?
