86108-584373-thumbnail.jpgThe book presents the best of the first year of Today at the Mission. It is very much like the blog - a record of an emotional and spiritual journey undertaken in the kitchen of an anonymous homeless shelter that could be anywhere, or everywhere. It's not always 'light' reading but it's every bit as real as it is honest. This book captures a few miles of the journey I've been on, and I hope you'll join me along the way.

Take This Bread: A Radical Conversion

Sara stretched my thinking and my understanding of the Kingdom of God, and I'm grateful. We all hunger for god, for friendship and for food. The dinner table is the only place these three needs can be met simultaneuously. I should have known that, but didn't. I learned it from Sara. She rocks.

Well, That Was Quick...

Once again, I have completely underestimated the collective wisdom of the blogosphere.

"Wisonian", Canada's very own and much beloved "Biscotti Brain," correctly guessed the introduction was written by Penni of "Martha, Martha". Penni is an absolutely amazing person and is the first friend I met via blogging. I was really, really pleased that she agreed to write the intorduction.

You know, it doesn't surprise me that Wilsonian was the first to guess the right answer. I had the pleasure of meeting her at a conference last summer and she's a very smart lady - not to mention witty, and charming.

Next time I'm not giving any hints.

Oh, and for those of you reading via blog readers: the book is now available here.

rick, i just came here to say thank you for such kind words. i am not worthy of any of this and was exceedingly humbled (and still am) by your even asking me to pen such a thing.

i don't know if anyone would have been able to tell it was me stylistically since i actually punctuated and capitalized ;)

i can't wait for you to make a bunch of money off of this.

oh, and i just met erin online yesterday - yep, she seems like quite a gal...
